Porsche-contracted driver Alessandro Ghiretti will contest this year’s Thailand Super Series with B-Quik Absolute Racing at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.
The Frenchman, who also drives for Absolute in this year’s GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS, will partner series veteran Henk Kiks aboard the team’s No. 26 entry for the five-round campaign that begins this weekend at Buriram.
Ghiretti and Kiks already shared a car in last year’s Michelin 12 Hours of Malaysia, finishing sixth overall and third in the Pro/Am class.
“It’s a championship I’ve never competed in before, so I’m really excited to discover this new series and take on a completely new challenge,” said Ghiretti. “From everything I’ve seen and heard, the event looks incredible, and I can’t wait to get started.
“It’s even more special because the last time I raced with Henk, we had a great weekend together at Sepang International Circuit where we achieved third place in our class. We worked very well together, so I’m really happy to be teaming up again for these races.
“Hopefully, we can build on that momentum and fight for some strong results next weekend.”
Team founder Kiks, meanwhile, will be hoping to improve on his overall fourth-place finish in last year’s TSS sharing a car with Sandy Stuvik.
B-Quik is the sole Porsche entry among what is an expected to be a six-strong contingent of GT3 cars for the season opener.
Last year’s TSS champion Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak is not defending his title having elected to switch to GTWC Asia with Absolute Racing this season.
The five-round Thai Super Series season kicks off this weekend at Buriram before moving on to the Bangsaen street circuit in July, while a pair of visits to Sepang and Malaysia and a return visit to Buriram in late October round off the schedule.
