Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its four-car lineup for the FIA GT World Cup at Macau, spearheaded by former winner Maro Engel and featuring the race debut for Ralf Aron.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, Engel will race for GruppeM Racing as the Kenny Chen-led squad makes its first World Cup appearance since its victory in 2019.
Craft-Bamboo Racing, who Engel drove for last year, returns to the event with a two-car lineup featuring Daniel Juncadella and Jules Gounon.
Juncadella formed part of the Hong Kong-based squad’s lineup alongside Engel at the previous edition of the event, while Gounon moves to join the team after making his event debut with Climax Racing last year.
Aron, meanwhile, will make his first appearance in GT3 machinery at the Macau Guia Circuit. However, the Estonian has notable experience of the street circuit, finishing third behind Dan Ticktum and Lando Norris in the Macau Grand Prix in 2017.
The 23-year-old has been aligned with Mercedes-AMG since 2023 and competed with the brand in both the Nürburgring 24 and the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa earlier this year.
Aron will be driving for TORO Racing, which notably ran a Porsche 911 GT3 R for Laurens Vanthoor in last year’s edition.
