Michele Rugolo, driving the No. 3 Ferrari 458 Italia, set the fastest time of the weekend so far. The Italian lapped the 3.45-mile Abu Dhabi track in 2:10.841, edging out teammate Marco Cioci in the No.4 Ferrari by just 0.059s.
Initially the two Abu Dhabi Racing by Black Falcon Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 cars were on top, but 20 minutes into the session Cioci was the first of the AF Corse drivers to beat Jeroen Bleekemolen’s time.
Fifteen minutes later it was Rugolo who improved the time by his teammate and that was it. Ivan Bellarosa managed to put the No. 45 Wolf GB08 into third, but he was unable to challenge the AF Corse cars.
Alvaro Parente was the fastest McLaren driver. The Portuguese driver briefly put the McLaren 650S GT3 in second place, but the No. 59 McLaren eventually ended the session in seventh.
The No. 99 Kessel Racing Ferrari was fastest in the Gentlemen class, while the No. 33 MRS GT-Racing Porsche Cup was quickest in the Cup class.
Track action will resume with the qualifying session at 4 pm local time.
