Manthey EMA’s No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R has been withdrawn from the ADAC Ruhr Cup in the wake of Friday’s paddock accident at the Nürburgring.

The German squad had entered its Grello-liveried Porsche for Thomas Preining, Ayhancan Guven and Laurens Vanthoor in the six-hour race at the Eifel circuit.

However, the team confirmed via a statement issued on Saturday that it will not take part in the race after an accident involving an exploding pressurized cylinder injured 22 people on Friday evening.

Although Manthey stated that none of its personnel were involved or harmed in the accident, “routine investigations” mean the No. 911 car is unable to start the race.

“The thoughts of Manthey and the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring are with those affected by yesterday’s incident,” the statement read.

“As many of you have asked: Manthey was not involved and no member of our crew sustained injuries. We appreciate your kind messages of concern.

“Due to the incident, Manthey EMA will not be participating in today’s NLS race. As the routine investigations are still ongoing, the No. 911 is unable to start today’s race.”
