The 53rd running of the Nürburgring 24 has been red-flagged in the second hour because of a power outage in the pit building.
David Perel’s No. 45 Realize Kondo Racing with Ferrari 296 GT3 ran in the lead, having cycled to the front after making his first stop after five laps.
However, with just over 90 minutes of the race completed, the race was stopped due to a loss of power in the pits.
This has caused the refueling pumps to stop working, leading to the red flag.
Officials have confirmed that the race is due to restart at 7:45 p.m. CEST (1:45 p.m. EST).
Adam Christodoulou held second in the No. 17 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, with Mattia Drudi third in the No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.
Before the red flag, Drudi had been engaged in battle with both Christopher Haase and Maro Engel for third place, with Haase and Drudi notably coming to blows out of a Code 60.
The No. 34 Aston Martin appeared to not immediately react returning to green flag status, with Haase’s No. 1 Scherer Sport PHX Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II running into the back of the car.
Engel, sat in behind in the No. 14 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, reacted quickly and passes Haase for fourth place.
The two German veterans then went head-to-head down the Dottinger Hohe at the end of the lap, with Engel eventually winning out and capturing the position.
Haase dropped to fifth, with Augusto Farfus and Kevin Estre sixth and seventh in the No. 98 ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 Evo II and No. 911 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R, respectively.
