The Nürburgring Endurance Series (NES) has announced that it has opted to cancel all remaining 2024 dates on its schedule to focus on training additional marshals in preparation for a 2025 campaign.

The announcement, made on Friday, comes not long after the series was forced to abandon plans for a four-hour race on the Nordschleife when a significant number of marshals withdrew on the day of the race.

That marked the second time that the series pulled the plug on a race fixture, as its opening event featuring a pair of 90-minute races on the Grand Prix circuit was canceled in March.

“In order to enable the teams to have a perfect 2025 racing season with ideal conditions, the NES will cancel the remaining race dates for 2024 and use the capacity to train additional neutral marshals,” a statement issued by the series read.

“The first dates of the training, which is free of charge for participants, will be announced shortly on the website.”

The series had three more fixtures confirmed prior to the full cancelation, on July 5-6, Sept. 13-15 and Nov. 8-9.
