A last-lap flyer by Laurens Vanthoor has put Manthey Racing and Porsche to the top of the time sheets after Qualifying 2 for the Nürburgring 24.

On his final flying lap, the Belgian driver laid down a 8:14.503 lap in the No. 911 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R to bump the No. 98 ROWE Racing BMW M6 GT3 from the quickest time.

Tristan Vautier ended up third on the time sheets, thanks to a 8:18.688 in the No. 16 Landgraf Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 that was also set at the end of the 1 hour and 50-minute session.

All three cars went quicker than the Q1 pace-setting No. 1 . Audi Sport Team Land entry of Kelvin van der Linde, who has been demoted to fourth, with the No. 48 HTP-run Mann Filter Mercedes completing the top-five overall and in SP9-GT3.

Q2 was marred by several accidents, including a wild and high-flying ride for the No. 89 MSC Sinzig Audi TT, which crashed out at Flugplatz.

It resulted in several long slow zones for track cleanup and barrier repairs.

Positions 31 on back have now been locked for tomorrow’s start, with Top 30 Qualiffying shootout now set to determine the order at the front of the field.

The shootout is set to get underway at 7 p.m. local time.
