SUPER GT will hold an overseas race for the first time since 2019 next year as Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit returns to the schedule.

A provisional 2025 schedule revealed by JAF on Thursday has Sepang listed as the third round of the season on June 26-28.

The Malaysian venue effectively replaces Suzuka in that slot as it gears up to host its first SUPER GT race since 2013.

It will mark the first time that the championship has raced outside of Japanese soil since 2019, when Buriram in Thailand was part of the schedule.

The following year, both Buriram and Sepang were due to hold races, but both were axed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the elevated logistic costs in the wake of that meant a return to overseas races was postponed.

However, SUPER GT held its first test at Sepang since 2020 in January (pictured top), and this was widely viewed as a precursor to the circuit returning to the schedule.

With Suzuka dropping down to a single date for 2025, Fuji Speedway is now the only track on the schedule with multiple races.

Okayama International Circuit will open the season on April 13, with the traditional Golden Week fixture at Fuji set for May 4.

After Sepang, Fuji will host the fourth round of the season on August 3, with Suzuka following on August 24 – a week earlier than 2024, creating more space with the revived Suzuka 1000km that will take place on Sept. 14.

Sportsland Sugo (Sept. 21), Autopolis (Oct. 19) and Mobility Resort Motegi (Nov. 2) round off the schedule.

Race distances have not yet been announced with the exception of the Okayama opener, which will run to 300km.

2025 SUPER GT Schedule:
April 11-13 – Okayama International Circuit
May 2-4 – Fuji Speedway
June 26-28 – Sepang International Circuit (Malaysia)
August 1-3 – Fuji Speedway
August 22-24 – Suzuka Circuit
Sept. 19-21 – Sportsland Sugo
Oct. 17-19 – Autopolis
Oct. 31-Nov. 2 – Mobility Resort Motegi
