GTA has moved next year’s Super GT finale forward by one week to avoid a clash with the new date for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Four Hours of Shanghai.

The last Super GT race of the season will now be held at Twin Ring Motegi on Nov. 2-3, rather than its original Nov. 9-10 date.

This comes after the Shanghai WEC race was moved to Nov. 8-10 from Nov. 15-17 in order to avoid clashes with the Macau Grand Prix and Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix.

A statement from Super GT promoter GTA clarified that the Motegi date change was to avoid a clash between the Japanese championship and WEC.

However, there still exist two clashes between the championships earlier in 2019, with one of the Super GT pre-season tests occurring on the same weekend as the 1000 Miles of Sebring in March, and the Fuji race clashing with the Six Hours of Spa.

This clash has caused Jenson Button, who was set to compete in both championships, to miss the last two WEC races ahead of the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Super GT calendar change also confirmed the dates for its tests, beginning with the Okayama test with which Sebring clashes on March 16-17.

A second pre-season test will be held at Fuji on March 30-31 ahead of the season-opener at Okayama on April 14-15.

Another test will be held midway through the season on Aug. 10-11 at SUGO.

2019 Super GT Schedule:

March 16-17 – Okayama (test)
March 30-31 – Fuji (test)
April 13-14 – Okayama
May 3-4 – Fuji
May 25-26 – Suzuka
June 29-30 – Buriram
Aug. 3-4 – Fuji
Aug 10-11 – SUGO (test)
Sept. 7-8 – Autopolis
Sept. 21-22 – SUGO
Nov. 2-3 – Twin Ring Motegi
