VIDEO: New Porsche 911 GT3-R Revealed?

Porsche’s next-gen GT3 car caught testing at Portimao…

Could Porsche’s new FIA GT3-spec car already be out testing in preparation for next year? (En Français)

The video, courtesy of Tiago Fernandes, shows an unidentified Porsche 911 GT car testing at the Portimao circuit in August.

While the German manufacturer has yet to officially announce a successor to the 997-based Porsche 911 GT3-R, it’s understood a new 991 model GT3 car has been in the pipeline, and is slated to launch to customers mid next-year.

While no official confirmation has come that this is the next-gen Porsche GT3 car, it doesn’t appear to be any iteration of the GTE-spec 911 RSR (as the author of the video listed), due to the size of the rear wing and other styling cues.

Should the new 911 GT3-R make its race debut next year, it would have had to complete the FIA’s Balance of Performance test in September, a test that the new-for-2015 models from Audi, Lamborghini and Cadillac were also in attendance.
