Jamie Green will drive Audi Sport Team Land’s R8 LMS GT3 Evo in the Total 24 Hours of Spa, with Jose Maria Lopez having been dropped from the lineup.

The LMP1 and Formula E regular was announced in the Montaplast by Land Motorsport entry earlier this month and was set to drive alongside Christopher Mies and Ricardo Feller.

Since taking part in two days of testing with the Audi GT3 package, however, he and Audi have decided to cancel his participation in the Belgian endurance classic.

A statement released by Audi says that Lopez “did not feel optimally prepared for this 24-hour race in a race car that was new for him”.

Lopez, who finished runner-up in the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship standings, hasn’t competed in GT machinery since 2010, when he drove an Aston Martin DBR9 in the FIA GT1 Championship round at San Luis.

“We would be pleased to work with Jose Maria Lopez in a customer racing project with an appropriate preparation phase at a later point in time,” said Chris Reinke, head of Audi Sport customer racing.

Green becomes the fourth Audi DTM driver to compete at Spa this year, joining Robin Frijns, Nico Mueller and Rene Rast, who are all in the No. 1 Audi Sport Team WRT car.
