O’Connell Quickest Again in Second Long Beach Practice

Johnny O’Connell continued to set the benchmark in GT America powered by AWS at Long Beach by laying down the quickest time in the second and final practice session prior to qualifying on Friday.

O’Connell, in the No. 3 SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, improved on his 1:20.458 lap time in the opening session to dip into the one-minute and 19-second range, thanks to a 1:19.424 lap time.

It was 0.179 seconds quicker than Jason Daskalos’ No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which ended up second.

The No. 14 GMG Racing Audi of James Sofronas posted the third quickest time, followed by teammate Kyle Washington in the No. 32 Type-991.2 Porsche 911 GT3 R in fourth.

Mirco Schultis completed the top-five in his Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R.

GT2 was led by Aaron Farhadi in the No. 127 TPC Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, who was nearly eight-tenths quicker than Practice 1 pace-setter Dan Knox.

Issac Sherman and Robb Holland, meanwhile, led a Rotek Racing 1-2 in GT4, in the team’s pair of Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsports.

Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 4:25 p.m. PDT (7:25 p.m. EDT).
