Cooper Quickest in Rain-Affected Opening Practice

Michael Cooper led a Flying Lizard Motorsports 1-2 in a damp-turned-wet opening practice session for Pirelli GT4 America competitors at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Cooper, in the No. 2 Aston Martin Vantage GT4, laid down a 1:34.391 lap prior to the arrival of heavier rain showers later in the 45-minute session.

His time was 0.937 seconds quicker than the sister No. 8 Aston Martin of Elias Sabo and Andy Lee.

The Heart of Racing made it an Aston Martin sweep of the top three overall positions with the No. 24 entry of Gray Newell and Roman De Angelis posting the third quickest time.

The No. 92 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT4 of Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm was quickest of the Silver class contenders in fourth, with the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO completing the top-five.

Smooge’s sister No. 67 Toyota of Joey DaSilva and Isabella Robusto topped the Am class with the sixth quickest time outright.

Teams switched to wet-weather Pirelli tires after the opening minutes and completed the session without any significant incident or red flag.
