Jason Bell put the No. 2 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 on top of the timing sheets in the opening practice session for this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America SprintX season-opener.

Bell, who is sharing the GMG car at Circuit of the Americas with Alec Udell, posted a time of 2:17.371 to beat a quartet of Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsports headed up by Robby Foley in the No. 21 Flying Lizard Motorsports entry.

Third-quickest in Friday’s opening practice session was Alan Brynjolfsson who turned in a 2:17.715 behind the wheel of the No. 77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche, while Matt Travis ran fourth in the Nolasport Cayman.

Rounding out the top five was Andrew Davis, driving for Kelly-Moss Road & Race.

Brynjolfsson’s Park Place machine was the fastest car in the GT4 East field, while the best of the GT4 West runners was the Am-classified TRG Porsche of Derek DeBoer and James Rappaport.

The regional East and West championships, which each have their own Pro-Am and Am class brackets, are both joining the nationwide SprintX field at COTA this weekend.
