Hanley Holds On for Maiden Overall Win at Sebring

Daniel Hanley held off a hard-charging Kevin Boehm to give Hanley Motorsports its maiden overall Pirelli GT4 America win in Friday’s NOLA make-up race at Sebring International Raceway.

Hanley drove the No. 999 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO to a 1.334-second win over the No. 51 Auto Technic Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 of Zac Anderson in the 60-minute contest that ran caution-free.

Having started on pole, Boehm’s co-driver Kenton Koch lost the position to Parker Thompson on Lap 6, which saw the Hanley Toyota stretch out to an eight-second lead prior to the mid-race pit stops and driver changes.

Hanley emerged in the lead but came under attack from Boehm in the closing minutes, which was thwarted by a three-way battle for second place that saw positions change in the final corner of the final lap.

Anderson and John Capestro Dubets were second, followed by Boehm and co-driver Koch in the No. 92 Random Vandals Racing BMW.

The No. 34 Conquest Racing/JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 duo of Jesse Webb and Michai Stephens was fourth.

A fifth place overall finish for Andy Lee and Elias Sabo was good enough for the Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to take Pro-Am class honors.

It came amid a late charge by Matt Travis in the No. 47 Nolasport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, who closed the gap in the closing laps.

The No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW of Charlie Postins and James Clay, meanwhile, picked up the Am clas win with a 11th place overall finish.

The second of three races of the weekend is scheduled for 5 p.m. EDT on Saturday following qualifying in the morning.
