Record 40-Car Field Set for Road America

New additions, returning entries highlight bumper grid for Pirelli GT4 America at Road America…

A record field of 40 cars representing nine GT4 manufacturers are set for this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America races at Road America.

The bumper grid for Rounds 7 and 8 of the season is highlighted by the series debut of Conquest Racing West, Automatic Racing and Premier Racing, adding to the already strong fields that the SRO America-run championship has seen in previous races this year.

Former GT World Challenge America Pro-Am class champion Kyle Marcelli is among the new faces to the championship this weekend, with the Canadian confirmed in the No. 79 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 alongside Christopher Gumprecht.

Adam Adelson is set to team up with Elliott Skeer in the No. 120 Premier Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, with Conquest Racing West also set to make its series debut for with the Silver class pairing of Michai Stephens and Colin Mullan aboard a Mercedes.

While Automatic will enter an Am class Aston Martin Vantage GT4 for Paul Kiebler and Mikel Miller, Motorsport USA will expand into a three-car McLaren 570S GT4 operation for Road America, while an additional Nolasport Porsche will be on the grid for Dominic Starkweather and Anthony Geraci.

Nolasport’s Matt Travis and Jason Hart hold a 70-point lead in the Pro-Am class standings, while the Murillo Racing pairing of Kenny Murrillo and Christian Szymczak are out front in the Silver class and Smooge Racing’s John Geesbreght and Kevin Conway currently lead the Am class in their Toyota GR Supra GT4.

Track action for GT4 America competitors kicks off on Friday, with the pair of 60-minute races set for Saturday at 11:15 a.m. CT and Sunday at 10:45 a.m., both of which will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube page.

Following a thrilling weekend of racing on the streets of Nashville, GT America powered by AWS returns to a natural-terrain road course, with a total of 26 cars on the entry list for its Road America rounds.

It is highlighted by the debut of the two Flying Lizard Motorsports-entered GT3 entries for Memo Gidley (Bentley Continental GT3) and Andy Wilzoch (Porsche 911 GT3 R).

TR3 Racing’s John Megrue, who will return to Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS competition this weekend, is listed to also take part in the single Bronze-rated driver 40-minute races in the team’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

Brendan Iribe, who missed Nashville due to a pre-24 Hours of Le Mans scheduling conflict, is back in his Inception Racing McLaren 720S GT3.

Wright Motorsports’ Charlie Luck continues to lead the overall and GT3 Masters’ class championship.
