Next year’s Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by AWS schedule has been released, with the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour returning after a two-year absence to open the four-round global series for GT3 cars.

Announced on Sunday during an SRO Motorsports Group press conference at Barcelona, the 2022 IGTC schedule includes stops at Bathurst, Spa-Francorchamps, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Kyalami.

This year’s edition of the 12-hour classic at Mount Panorama was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic but is set to return on March 18-20 next year, pending confirmation.

SRO founder and CEO Stephane Ratel said that the slightly later date for Bathurst, which typically takes place in February, will give international teams “more time to prepare” for the event.

He that “the travel situation is improving in Australia, and we are very confident that it will be possible to travel to Australia by the end of March.”

The 2022 date for Bathurst clashes with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and the 1000 Miles of Sebring joint event run by IMSA and the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa will mark the second round of the campaign in late July, on a date that was confirmed during the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS calendar reveal last month.

Round three will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in early October, followed by the Kyalami 9 Hour in late November.

Ratel confirmed that the Suzuka 10 Hours will not form part of the schedule due to there still being “quite a lot of uncertainty around Asia” in terms of international travel restrictions.

2022 Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli Schedule:
March 18-20 – Bathurst 12 Hour
July 29-31 – TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa
Oct. 8-9 – Indianapolis 8 Hour
Nov. 26-27 – Kyalami 9 Hour
