Chiyo, KCMG Nissan Fastest in Night Practice

KCMG led the way in Friday’s Free Practice 2 for the Suzuka 10 Hours, in the one-and-only night session prior to the race.

Nissan factory driver Katsumasa Chiyo laid down a quick lap of 2:03.183 early in the 90-minute session to go quickest, edging out the No. 06 Team WRT Audi R8 LMS, which was second quickest and best of the Intercontinental GT Challenge runners.

The 2018-spec Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 ended up 0.145 seconds faster than the Audi, followed by the No. 888 GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 in third.

JLOC’s No. 88 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 was fourth on the overall time sheets, followed by the Free Practice pace-setting No. 991 Craft Bamboo Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, which completed the top-five.

Absolute Racing’s factory-backed Audi, meanwhile, was sixzth.

The session was halted with 33 minutes to go following an accident for the No. 777 Carguy Racing Honda NSX GT3, which crashed at Turn 15.

The No. 112 Rn-Sports Mercedes had also stopped on-track during the red.

Qualifying, dubbed the BBS Time Attack, gets underway Saturday at 1 p.m. local time, followed by Super Pole at 2:45 p.m.
