Former Formula 1 driver and Super GT champion Heikki Kovalainen will join Nick Cassidy and Nick Foster in HubAuto Corsa’s Ferrari 488 GT3 at the Suzuka 10 Hours later this month.

Kovalainen and Cassidy have both won the Super GT championship driving for Lexus in the GT500 ranks; Kovalainen in 2016 and Cassidy in 2017.

Cassidy returns to HubAuto after competing with the Taiwanese team in the Total 24 Hours of Spa less than two weeks ago, while Kovalainen makes his first start with the team.

Foster, meanwhile, remains the only constant in HubAuto’s lineup throughout the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli season.

He drove with Tim Slade in the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour and California 8 Hours, with the pair joined by Nick Percat at the former and Miguel Molina for their victory in California.

Cassidy then joined the team for Spa, joining Foster and Daniel Serra in the car.

“This is a major coup for the HubAuto team,” said technical director Phillip Di Fazio.

“I’ve lots of experience working alongside Heikki and Nick. We have a strong driver lineup with pedigree and experience. Coupled with a good car we are aiming for nothing less than a win.”

It will be the Finn’s first time driving a Ferrari since he defeated Michael Schumacher in the 2004 Race of Champions.

Kovalainen had a seven-year F1 career, driving for Renault, McLaren Mercedes, Lotus and Caterham. He won the 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix.
