Jamie Whincup was quickest in the fifth Free Practice session of the weekend for the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour, putting the Pro-Am class Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo on top.

Whincup reeled off a best lap of 2:03.113 in the No. 88 Mercedes-AMG to edge out fellow Pro-Am competitor, the No. 911 Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 R, by 0.396 seconds.

The No. 130 GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG was third and quickest of the Pro class entries, ahead of the No. 75 SunEnergy1 Racing Merc of Jules Gounon and the No. 77 Craft-Bamboo entry, which completed the top-five overall.

The first red flag of the weekend came out for the No. 25 Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 of Jesse Bryan, who spun and was stranded in the Turn 1 gravel trap.

There were no other incidents during the 60-minute session.

The sixth and final Free Practice session is set for 10 a.m. local time (Friday, 6 p.m. ET).
