Wright Motorsports led a Porsche 1-2 in Friday morning’s Free Practice sessions ahead of the California 8 Hours, with Fred Makowiecki setting the pace.

The Frenchman posted a best time of 1:24.174 early in the 90-minute session to take the No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R to the top of the timesheets.

He shares the Wright car with Romain Dumas and Dirk Werner.

The Black Swan Racing Porsche, driven by Patrick Long, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Tim Pappas, was classified second, with a best time 0.082 seconds off the pace.

Strakka Racing finished third and fourth with its lead factory-backed Mercedes-AMG GT3 ahead of the No. 42 which was fastest in the Pro-Am class.

PF Racing set the pace in GT4 with its Ford Mustang GT4 piloted by James Pesek, Jade Buford and Scott Maxwell.

The Ford set a quickest time of 1:31.725 to go almost 0.5 seconds clear of the No. 34 Murillo Racing Mercerdes-AMG GT4.

The K-PAX Racing, Audi Sport Team Land and No. 19 Audi Sport Team WRT cars didn’t set any lap times.

A red flag ended the session prematurely after an off-track incident for Gregory Liefooghe in the Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4.

Pre-Qualifying gets underway at 2 p.m. local time.
