Zac Anderson and John Capestro Dubets took victory for Auto Technic Racing in the second Pirelli GT4 America race at Virginia International Raceway, which ended under safety car.
The No. 51 BMW M4 GT4 crossed the line ahead of the No. 92 Random Vandals Racing machine of Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm.
After Koch and Capestro Dubets ran in first and second during their opening stints, which almost entirely took place behind the safety car, the lead battle heated up when Boehm and Anderson were installed behind the wheel of their respective cars.
The initial safety car, which lasted for nearly 30 minutes, was triggered following a collision between Eric Powell and Carter Fanuch that required barrier repairs.
With just under twenty minutes remaining, Anderson wrestled the No. 51 machine past Boehm’s car through turns five and six and took the race lead.
He remained in the lead when Johan Schwartz and Kevin Conway both brought their damaged cars to a halt off track in separate, unrelated incidents.
This caused a second safety car, which would last to the end of the race.
Michai Stephens and Jesse Webb completed the podium in the No. 34 Conquest Racing/JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4.
Stephens laid the groundwork for the top three result with a strong opening lap that saw him jump from sixth to third.
Harry Gottsacker and Chandler Hull finished fourth for STR83 Motorsports, with the No. 36 Bimmerworld BMW of Charlie Postins and James Clay coming home fifth and taking Am class honors in the process.
