Gray Newell has received a two-race suspension from SRO America after exceeding his behavior warning points threshold during the Virginia International Raceway weekend.

Newell, who competes in both Pirelli GT4 America and GT America powered by AWS, was deemed responsible by the stewards for causing a collision in Saturday’s first GT America race of the weekend.

The Heart of Racing driver attempted to leave a gap to the Audi R8 LMS GT2 entry of CJ Moses, who was weaving back and forth, until contact was made between the two cars.

Newell was given five warning points for the incident, which was added to his only other incident of the season at Sonoma Raceway that put him over the maximum allowed eight points.

As a result, Newell was not allowed to take part in GT4 America Race 1 on Saturday and will also be parked for this morning’s GT America Race 2. However, he will be permitted to take part in the second GT4 America race of the weekend later in the day.

Newell shares the No. 24 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in GT4 America competition with Roman De Angelis, with the car not having participated in Saturday’s 60-minute race.
