Kenton Koch made a late-race pass around John Capestro Dubets to claim his second victory of the day at Virginia International Raceway in the opening Pirelli GT4 America race of the weekend.

Koch, in the No. 92 Random Vandals Racing BWM M4 GT4, got around Capestro Dubets’ No. 51 Auto Technic Racing BMW with 12 minutes remaining in the 60-minute contest, which ran caution-free.

The two Silver class BMWs ran nose-to-tail for much of the race, following strong opening stints from pole-sitter Zac Anderson and Kevin Boehm for Auto Technic and Random Vandals, respectively.

Capestro Dubets’ Auto Technic BMW, which took on brake fluid during its pit stop, remained in contention in the closing laps, finishing just 0.262 seconds behind Koch, who also won the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race earlier in the day with TR3 Racing.

It marked both Koch and Boehm’s first GT4 America victories of the season.

The No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW of Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr. finished third overall, taking Pro-Am class honors along the way, with teammates James Clay and Charlie Postins coming home fourth and won the Am category.

Jason Hart and Matt Travis completed the top-five in their No. 47 Nolasport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport as the best-placed non-BMW.

The second and final race of the weekend is set for a 10:55 a.m. EDT start on Sunday, with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube page.
