Braun Quickest on Friday at Sonoma

Colin Braun set the pace in practice on Friday for this weekend’s season opening Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS races at Sonoma Raceway.

Braun took his No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to a fast lap of 1:36.853 in the second practice session, outpacing the No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes of Bryan Sellers by 0.107 seconds.

Jan Heylen’s benchmark 1:36.911 from the morning session held up as second quickest of the day, meanwhile.

The No. 94 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 of Bill Auberlen was third quickest in the second session, pacing the Pro class, with Spencer Pumpelly and Elliott Skeer completing the top-five overall for ACI Motorsports and Wright Motorsports, both in Type-991.2 Porsche 911 GT3 Rs.

Heylen, meanwhile, set the sixth quickest time in Practice 2, followed by the No. 53 MDK Motorsports Porsche and No. 21 Conquest Racing Ferrari in seventh and eighth, respectively.

RS1’s Porsche and the TR3 Racing Mercedes completed the top-ten overall.

As was the case in the morning, the 60-minute afternoon session ran without any major incident or red flag.
