K-PAX Racing has swept the front row for this afternoon’s Pirelli World Challenge Race 1 at Sonoma Raceway, with Austin Cindric claiming the pole in GT in his No. 6 McLaren 650S GT3 with a fast time of 1:32.214.

The 18-year-old has had a busy weekend, first finishing sixth in the ARCA race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. on Thursday night before pacing the opening practice session of the weekend in Sonoma on Friday.

He was sixth in Practice 2. It is Cindric’s second GT-class pole of his career.

K-PAX Racing teammate and championship contender Alvaro Parente will line up second, coming up just 0.058 seconds shy of Cindric’s pace-setting time.

Johnny O’Connell led teammate Michael Cooper in a Cadillac Racing 3-4 effort in qualifying, with Jon Fogarty placing the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing McLaren fifth.

Points leader Patrick Long will start ninth in the No. 58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The top-12 qualifiers all came in under the previous World Challenge GT track record.

Martin Fuentes paced the GTA field in the No. 07 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 for Scuderia Corsa, ahead of Michael Schein and series newcomer Cooper MacNeil, while Alec Udell claimed pole in GT Cup competition.

Race 1 is set for 1:45-2:45 p.m. PT (4:45 p.m. ET) this afternoon with live coverage on MotorTrend on Demand and World-Challenge.com.
