Dollahite Absent in 20-Car Barber Entry List

GT World Challenge America powered by AWS heads to Barber Motorsports Park this weekend the penultimate round and final regular-length race of the season, although without Dollahite Racing’s Ford Mustang GT3 EVO.

The 20-car entry list features several returning drivers although with only four Pro class entries, with the Texas-based team not making the trip to Birmingham, Ala.

According to team owner Bill Dollahite, the team’s absence is due to a “couple of unforeseen events” that has resulted in no longer having a chance of winning the Pro class title, with the team set to pivot to the Pro-Am ranks for next month’s season-ending Desder Indianapolis 8 Hour.

Drivers Cameron Lawrence and Alex Sedgwick scored their third class podium in five races last time out at Road America, although it’s understood Lawrence is no longer part of the program.

Other changes since Road America include the return of Ozz Negri to the No. 163 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo after missing the last two races due to undergoing surgery to his achilles tendon.

It will be the only Am class car in the race, although the No. 67 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari, a partial season entrant, will be back for the season finale, along with the Pro-Am effort from Tirarsi Competizione.

Frederik Schandorff, meanwhile, will return to the No. 12 AF Corse Ferrari in the Pro class after the Dane missed the Wisconsin round due to a clash with GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup.

The No. 28 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo will continue to see Danny Dyszelski, who starred in his GT3 debut alongside Jan Heylen, who combined to finish second in Pro-Am.

Victory last time out for Turner Motorsport’s Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg has seen the duo close to within four points of Pro class championship leaders Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier of JMF Motorsports.

The Pro-Am championship changed hands when Kyle Washington was collected in a multi-car accident, knocking he and Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver Tom Sargent out of the Pro-Am championship lead.

They now trail the Wright Motorsports duo of Dave Musial Jr. and fellow PMNA Selected Driver Ryan Yardley by three points entering the weekend.

Track action for GTWC America competitors begins on Friday with a test session, the Paid Bronze Test and opening practice, with two more practice sessions on tap for Saturday.

Qualifying is set for Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CST, followed by the three-hour feature race at 12:30 p.m., which will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
