Eric Filgueiras and Valentin Hasse Clot have claimed pole positions for this weekend’s Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS races at NOLA Motorsports Park.

Filgueiras took his No. 28 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3 R to a best lap of 1:33.864 in Q1 to edge out the No. 21 Conquest Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 of Manny Franco by 0.427 seconds.

It marked Filgueiras’ second pole in as many attempts this season for the GT3 debutant.

Scott Smithson put the No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo third on the time charts, which was good enough for the Pro-Am class pole, followed by the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche of Adam Adelson in fourth.

The No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 of Ashton Harrison will start fifth overall in Race 1, followed by Chandler Hull in the No. 94 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT3 in sixth.

Q2 saw Aston Martin factory driver Hasse Clot set a benchmark 1:32.918 in the No. 007 TRG Aston Martin Vantage GT3, which was a mere 0.039 seconds faster than the No. 45 Wright Porsche of Jan Heylen.

John Edwards qualified third in the No. 38 ST Racing BMW, with Colin Braun and Corey Lewis completing the top-five in Q2 for CrowdStrike by Riley and DXDT, respectively, followed by teammate Bryan Sellers.

The top six cars were Pro-Am class cars, with the seventh place Mario Farnbacher the quickest of the Pro entries.

Both sessions ran in overcast but dry conditions although rain is in the forecast for this afternoon, which could impact running.

Race 1 is scheduled to get underway at 3:10 p.m. CT with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube page.
