JCR Motorsports Confirms Two-Car PWC Entry into GTA, GT Cup

JCR Motorsports will expand to a two-car effort in this year’s Pirelli World Challenge season, with Jeff Courtney in GTA and Mitch Landry in GT Cup.

Courtney, a GT veteran, will continue in the team’s No. 99 Audi R8 LMS ultra. He finished fifth in the GTA class standings a year ago on the strength of four podium finishes, running in 12 of the 16 races.

“After about one and one-half seasons with our R8 I believe we have learned quite a bit,” Courtney said. “I believe we have the right engineering and crew in place this season to put us in a better position than ever to be more competitive.”

The team enlisted Lawson Aschenbach, a four-time PWC class champion including the last two years in GTS, to assist in development during testing at Circuit of the Americas last weekend.

Meanwhile Landry steps up into the team’s No. 97 GT Cup entry after two years in GTS. Last year, driving for Motorsports Development Group in an Ford Mustang Boss 302S, Landry finished 12th in points with seven top-10 finishes from 16 starts, and a best result of sixth in Toronto.

“The new Porsche GT3 Cup car is awesome to drive and the dependability is unmatched,” Landry said. “I hope to give the young guns some competition, as it looks like I will be the senior of the group – and to have some fun in the process.”
