K-PAX Racing’s Jordan Pepper and Andrea Caldarelli will be looking to clinch the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS title this weekend at Sebring International Raceway ahead of next month’s season-ending Indianapolis 8 Hour.

Having been the dominant force in the Pro class this year with seven wins out of ten races, Pepper and Caldarelli hold a 63-point lead over Turner Motorsport’s Robby Foley and Michael Dinan in the championship race.

They will need to leave Sebring with at least a 51-point margin to be crowned champions one race early.

“It definitely is a motivational point to bring back the championship in Sebring,” Caldarelli said. “But we know that we have to give all our best to achieve it.

“I am personally considering this weekend as another one – so head down and try to win the races.”

Both Caldarelli and Pepper have never been to the 3.7-mile airfield circuit before and will utilize Thursday’s pair of test sessions to get up to speed in their Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.

“Sebring is a unique track,” said Pepper. “It’s an iconic old-school track which has so much character and history.

“I’ve never driven it myself but really excited to get out on track and experience the bumps first-hand.

“The goal is simple for this weekend: execute both qualifying sessions to give us the best shot at going for top results.

“We’re always aiming to win, but I know it will be tough.

“As for the championship, if we can have a good weekend we can wrap up the teams and drivers titles, so that would definitely be on our minds for sure.”

Caldarelli has extra motivation to wrap up the title early as the Lamborghini factory driver is slated to drive for Orange 1 FFF Racing Team at Indy as part of his team’s Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli campaign.

Should the title be clinched this weekend, Sportscar365 understands that K-PAX will not enter its No. 3 Lamborghini for GTWC America points at Indy, therefore keeping Caldarelli and Pepper on even points to share the title.

“This has been one of the strongest seasons we have had so far,” said program manager Darren Law.

“As we have stated before, switching manufacturers, and learning a new car isn’t easy, but Lamborghini Squadra Corse has been a great partner.

“We are all very focused on closing out these championships and look forward to this coming weekend.”
