The K-PAX Racing with Flying Lizard Motorsports McLaren 650S GT3s will return to Pirelli World Challenge for a second season, and the third overall for K-PAX after also running the previous generation McLaren MP4-12Cs in 2014.

There will be at least two McLarens for the full season, with the potential of a third available. The team’s older MP4-12C has been upgraded to a 650S specification, now equipped with all new suspension, bodywork and other upgrades.

Drivers will be announced at a later date.

Alas, today’s announcement marks the continuation of the partnership between K-PAX and Flying Lizard as well, which won several races in 2015 with Kevin Estre, and the team’s first 1-2 finish when Estre led home teammate Robert Thorne at Barber Motorsports Park.

“When you have two teams that are so established in their own arenas, a merge like ours could have been really difficult,” said Program Manager Darren Law.

“The joining of K-PAX Racing and Flying Lizard Motorsports was so seamless, we knew we were going to have something really great. It was an excellent opening year, and we’re very excited to return to the series with K-PAX owner Jim Haughey.”

“The strength and competitiveness of the 650S really showed this year, and we’re excited to be able to continue the expansion of our program by offering up a third car to a customer,” Haughey added.

“I’m looking forward to our continued progress and evolution as a team and look forward to another season in a race series as competitive as Pirelli World Challenge.”
