TR3 Racing has adjusted its driver lineup for the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS with Kenton Koch replacing Paul Kiebler in the No. 27 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Kiebler was due to join John Branam and Matt Bell for the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season finale but TR3 carried out the switch on race day morning.

An SRO America spokesperson told Sportscar365 that the last-minute change was a “team decision” but team representatives declined to comment.

TR3 Racing’s request was approved by the race organizers without penalty as a matter of force majeure.

Koch is making his return to TR3 after a successful one-off appearance at Virginia International Raceway in June when he won both races overall alongside Daniel Morad.

Kiebler, meanwhile, is set to miss his second consecutive Fanatec GT round after sitting out Sebring due to a two-race ban for exceeding his behavioral warning points.

The No. 27 Mercedes-AMG, which is starting this afternoon’s race from 22nd and last on the grid, is set to remain in the Pro-Am class despite Bronze-rated Kiebler being subbed out for a Silver-rated driver because Branam is also Bronze-rated.
