Johnny O’Connell turned in a late flyer to put Cadillac Racing at the top of the time sheets in Friday’s Pirelli World Challenge GT/GTA/GT Cup practice session at Road America.

O’Connell’s fast lap of 2:05:326 in the No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R was a full 0.526 seconds clear of second place Patrick Long in the No. 58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Jon Fogarty turned in a strong performance for GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing in third, making it two Porsches in the top three.

Peter Kox in the No. 93 RealTime Racing Acura NSX GT3 and Adderly Fong in the No. 88 Absolute Racing Bentley Continental GT3 completed the top five in GT.

Magnus Racing’s John Potter took GTA honors, while Yuki Harata paced the GT Cup field in his Dream Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo.

The 30-minute session was halted twice by red flags, but neither incident appeared to be major.

Series officials announced that contact between Kox in the Acura and the No. 04 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Jorge De La Torre would be reviewed following practice.

Also of note, Alvaro Parente appeared to slow on course with five minutes remaining and reportedly was not under power.

Up next is an 8:35 a.m. CT qualifying session to set the field for the first race of the weekend Saturday afternoon.

RESULTS: Practice 2
