Optimum Motorsport will make its Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS debut in next weekend’s round at Circuit of The Americas, giving the McLaren 720S GT3 its first series outing.

Brendan Iribe and Ollie Millroy will team up in the McLaren, to be run under the inception racing banner.

The UK-based team, which expanded to GTWC Europe competition for this season, will be utilizing the chassis last seen in action at the Silverstone 500 Intelligent Money British GT Championship race in 2020.

Optimum has secured a temporary base in the U.S., with plans to contest the remainder of the GTWC America season “calendar depending” according to a team statement.

SRO America has yet to announce the replacement round for the recently canceled event at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, which could create a clash with the team’s GTWC Europe and International GT Open commitments.

“Taking on an all-new American championship will be a challenging adventure; the drivers and team are all very excited to run in GTWC America,” said team manager Bas Leinders.

“Of course, we have experience in SRO run events and they were helpful in assisting us to make the transition as smooth as possible.

“I’m really looking forward to some of the iconic tracks that will be new to myself and to the crew.”

An updated entry list for the COTA round is expected to be released later today.
