Matias Perez Companc was quickest in the second of three practice sessions for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS competitors ahead of tomorrow’s three-hour race at Road America.

The Argentinean in the No. 12 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo laid down a 2:04.895 lap time early in the hour-long session, which was impacted by the arrival of light rain, to edge out Friday’s pace-setter Tom Sargent by 0.021 seconds.

Sargent’s 2:04.606 lap time set in the fully dry session yesterday in his No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, however, was still quicker.

Colin Braun ended the second practice third quickest in the No. 017 Kellymoss Porsche, with the No. 69 Archangel Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo of Aaron Telitz and repaired No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo completing the overall top-five in the hands of Mikael Grenier.

The No. 163 AF Corse Ferrari of Benny Simonsen led the Am class with the 16th quickest time overall.

Two cars stopped on track during the session but neither brought out a red flag.

First was the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which is just taking part in the practice sessions this weekend for GT America powered by AWS prep, followed by the No. 64 Chicago Performance and Tuning Co. Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 of Nicolai Elghanayan.

The No. 27 JMF Mercedes-AMG was the only car not to set a time in the session as the team awaits a new engine following a sizable failure on the front stretch in Friday’s session.

A final 30-minute practice session is scheduled for 2:25 p.m. CST.

RESULTS: Practice 2
