With its first overall victory of the season and a sweep of the top four positions in Pro-Am last time out, Porsche’s armanda of customer teams will be seeking continued success in this weekend’s GT World Challenge America powered by AWS round at Sebring International Raceway.

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup North America champion Ryan Yardley and co-driver Dave Musial Jr. came out on top in a dramatic conclusion to last month’s race at Circuit of The Americas, winning the three-hour contest outright in its Pro-Am class entry after two penalties for the Pro class JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

It ended up being a landmark 1-2 Pro-Am result for Wright Motorsports, with the No. 28 RS1 Porsche of Jan Heylen and JP Martinez finishing third and Tom Sargent and Kyle Washington’s No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche in fourth.

As a result, Porsche teams occupy the top six positions in the Pro-Am points standings, led by Yardley and Musial entering Saturday evening’s third round of the season.

While JMF’s Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier lost out on overall spoils in Texas, the duo maintain an undefeated record in the Pro class, and as a result are 20 points ahead of a two-way tie between Frederik Schandorff and Matias Perez Companc in their AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo and the Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 Evo of Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg.

Schandorff and Companc’s teammates, Ozz Negri and Jay Schreibman, hold control of the Am class, and after facing competition from a Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG at COTA, are again the lone entrant in the class this weekend.

The 21-car entry list features no other changes since the Austin round, but does see the continuation of Triarsi Competizione’s Pro-Am class Ferrari lineup of Riccardo Agostini and Sebastian Mascaro, which debuted at COTA.

Rebel Rock Racing is also set for its second consecutive outing, having already confirmed its participation for the rest of the season with Robin Liddell and Frank DePew at the wheel of its Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo.

GTWC America cars take to the historic 3.7-mile Florida airfield circuit for the first time on Friday for two test sessions, a Paid Bronze Test and opening practice, followed by a second practice session on Saturday morning before qualifying in the early afternoon.

The three-hour feature race is set for a 5 p.m. EST start on Saturday evening and will go into sunset. Live coverage will again be on SRO GT World YouTube channel, with FS1 set to air a highlights package of the race on Sun. May 17 at 6:30 a.m. EST.
