Racers Edge Motorsports has announced the first portion of its 2016 plans, confirming it is set to run the new SIN R1 GT4 in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class.

The DeLand, Fla.-based operation already has two cars on order and in addition to competing, will be the exclusive North American distributor for SIN CARS. Drivers are to be determined with the goal of testing for the first time in October.

The car is not as yet homologated for competition, but would look to debut for the 2016 season.

“We’ve provided support for other teams in Pirelli World Challenge and were looking for the right situation to enter with our own program,” said Racers Edge team principal Jon Mirachi. “When we saw the SIN CAR and looked into it, we were hooked!

“The car’s concept seemed about perfect to me; both from the driver’s perspective and from the team’s, so it was a very easy decision for us – this was our ticket to the Pirelli World Challenge Series.”

Racers Edge has campaigned two Ford Mustang Boss 302Rs this season in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge GS class.

Mirachi told Sportscar365 he hopes to continue in IMSA for 2016, but has no program set at the moment and would need to replace the previous generation Mustangs, which will be retired at the end of this season.
