Ex-Formula One driver Will Stevens is set for his Pirelli World Challenge debut, having been confirmed with Bentley Team Absolute for this weekend’s SprintX round at Utah Motorsports Campus.
The British sports car star will team with Andrew Kim in Absolute’s No. 78 Bentley Continental GT3, which will compete for Pro-Am class honors.
It will mark Stevens’ first start in a Bentley, coming in the Chinese team’s return to PWC competition after missing last month’s Mid-Ohio Sprint round due to driver conflicts.
Bentley factory driver Vincent Abril, fresh off a second-place finish in the Total 24 Hours of Spa, will rejoin Adderly Fong in the No. 88 Bentley, which is one of 12 cars in the GT Pro-Pro class for the weekend.
The SprintX grid swells to a 31-car grid for the penultimate round of the season, with a number of other notable additions.
DXDT Racing is set to debut its Mercedes-AMG GT3, with Aaron Povoledo and David Askew listed in the Pro-Am entry, while the team will also field a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo car in the GT Cup class.
Porsche Young Professional Matthieu Jaminet is set to join James Sofronas in the No. 14 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, while Michael Lewis switches to the No. 6 K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3 alongside full-season driver Bryan Sellers, following the withdrawal of Mike Hedlund’s entry, as previously announced.
Of note, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing is set for its SprintX debut, with Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler joining Jon Fogarty in the No. 99 Porsche.
R. Ferri Motorsport, which made its series return at Mid-Ohio, is not on the entry list for Utah.
Track action gets underway with a promoter test day on Thursday.
