SRO America has changed the date of its round at Virginia International Raceway to prevent a clash with the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year, while also confirming the venue of its pre-season winter test.

Announced on Friday, the fifth round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season will now take place on July 19-21, 2024.

It was originally announced to fall on the same weekend as the French endurance classic.

“As we work to build the perfect calendar, there are always challenges in avoiding clashes,” said SRO America President and CEO Greg Gill.

“After feedback from our teams and drivers, we knew it would be to the benefit of our paddock to move our VIR weekend off Le Mans.”

SRO has also confirmed that NOLA Motorsports Park will serve as the venue for the pre-season test on Feb. 28-29, while the track for the early September race will be announced in the “coming weeks.”

Sportscar365 understands it is likely to be either Barber Motorsports Park or a return to Sebring International Raceway.
