SRO America’s round at Virginia International Raceway has been provisionally rescheduled to July, in what is believed to be the new intended return to racing for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and the organization’s other series.

Confirmed to teams on Monday, the VIR round is now slated to take place on July 9-12 and will feature a triple-header for both the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint and SprintX series as well as the debut of GT Sports Club America.

Two rounds of GTWC America are slated for the four-day event, which will also include a full day of testing on Wednesday July 8.

Originally scheduled for June 5-7, the VIR event is understood to have been pushed back despite the state of Virginia expecting to roll back restrictions from the state’s business shutdown that is currently set to expire on May 15.

Several teams are slated to be conducting private testing at the 3.27-mile circuit next week while adhering to the current social distancing laws.

VIR had been initially scheduled as the third event of the GTWC America season following March’s season-opener at Circuit of The Americas and the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park event, which has been postponed to a yet-to-be-determined date.

GT4 America races at St. Petersburg, Long Beach and Lime Rock Park, meanwhile, have all been canceled, leading to the additional races on the VIR weekend.
