Porsche outfit Phantom Global Racing’s assault on this year’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS will be headed up by Joel Eriksson and Bastian Buus.

Along with Jaxon Evans, Eriksson and Buus formed Phantom Global’s lineup for the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour in February, which marked the Chinese squad’s first race in its current guise, the trio finishing fourth overall.

Now it has been confirmed that both former DTM racer Eriksson and Porsche Supercup champion Buus will join the team for the six-round Fanatec GT Asia campaign, which kicks off next weekend at Sepang.

Eriksson will share one of the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 Rs, the No. 13, with Sun Jing Zu, while Buus teams up with Thai racer Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak in the No. 93 machine.

Both Sun and Inthraphuvasak have links to the team through their campaigns in Fanatec GT Asia last season with Absolute Racing, whose former team manager Martin Young now heads up the Phantom Global program.

Sun also drove for Phantom Global in last month’s Sepang 12 Hours, sharing a car with 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard.

Team 75, the team owned by Bernhard that previously raced in the DTM, is providing Phantom Global with technical support this season.
