24H Spa Rescheduled to October

The Total 24 Hours of Spa has been rescheduled to Oct. 22-25 after being postponed from its traditional late-July date.

The Belgian GT endurance classic is the centerpiece of the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli and GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS.

It was moved from its traditional date earlier this month after an extension of Belgium’s ban on large gatherings due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis.

It will now be staged in October the first time since its inception in 1924.

The pre-event test days have been moved to Sept. 29-30, meanwhile.

The 24 Hours support bill will include Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, GT4 European Series and TCR Europe Series.

The new date is three weeks after the IGTC’s Indianapolis 8 Hour, two weeks after GTWC Europe’s Endurance round at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and one week ahead of its planned Sprint finale at Imola.

Away from the SRO Motorsports Group umbrella, IMSA’s Motul Petit Le Mans is scheduled for Oct. 17, the weekend before Spa, while the ADAC GT Masters finale now clashes with the Belgian enduro.

Oct. 24-25 is also the weekend initially held by the FIA Motorsport Games, which has been postponed to the same weekend in 2021.
