Robin Frijns got his GT career off to a good start by posting the fastest time in the first Blancpain Sprint Series practice session at Nogaro.
The Dutchman is sharing the No. 1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS ultra with Laurens Vanthoor and posted a 1.25.381 early on in the session.
Conditions weren’t optimal with a slightly damp track at the beginning, resulting in several cars having spins and off-track excursion, including the pacesetting No. 1 Audi.
Nogaro is known for being a track that suits the Audi R8, and it looks like this year won’t be any different; the German car taking up the top five spots in FP1.
The Phoenix Racing Audi of Markus Winkelhock and Niki Mayr-Melnhof managed to mingle between the WRT battalion, ending the session in third (+0.231s).
Best of the rest was the No. 55 McLaren 650S GT3 of Rob Bell in sixth (+1.559s), followed by the MRS GT Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 of Craig Dolby.
Free Practice two starts at 2:50 p.m. (local time) this afternoon.
