Maximilian Buhk has renewed his contract as a Mercedes-AMG factory driver for another two years and will compete in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and Nürburgring 24.

The German has already been confirmed in Strakka Racing’s No. 56 Mercedes-AMG GT3 for next month’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hours, driving alongside Maximilian Goetz and Alvaro Parente.

In addition, he is set to compete in all four IGTC rounds as well as the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup for Strakka Racing.

The British outfit is making the switch to Mercedes machinery this year after a troublesome season racing McLaren 650S GT3s, and Buhk competed in the series with HTP Motorsport in 2017.

Buhk will also race in May’s Nürburgring 24 and selected VLN races on the Nordschleife.

“I am very excited about the year, especially about my contract extension with AMG,” said Buhk. “AMG has proven to be very professional during past years and I feel very comfortable there.

“The Intercontinental GT Challenge brings a new addition to my race program and it will certainly be an exciting challenge.

“First of all, I am now heading to Bathurst to a track that I love and really enjoy driving on. It’s like a short Nordschleife where you cannot allow for any mistakes to happen, otherwise you go straight into the wall.

“We were so close in taking victory in 2014 and it would be nice if we were in a similar position again this year to fight for the front places.”
