Mirko Bortolotti set the pace for GRT Grasser Racing Team in the Pre-Qualifying session for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Silverstone.

His best time was a 1:59.873, in the car he shares with Rolf Ineichen and Jeroen Bleekemolen.

With less than a minute on the clock, Michael Meadows moved his Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS into the lead, with a 1:59.605.

However, camera replays showed the Brit cutting part of the track, and so his laptime was quickly negated, dropping the No. 2 team down to ninth, and promoting Bortolitti back to the top.

Barwell Motorsport was second with the No. 78 Lamborghini, while ISR was third with its No. 74 Audi R8 LMS; both Pro-Am cars.

This trend continued further, with the Pro-Am Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Black Falcon finishing fourth.

Bentley Team M-Sport finished fifth with the No. 8 Bentley Continental GT3, but this car had an incident in the latter stages of the session, with Andy Soucek at the wheel.

Soucek collided with Nicolas Amindo on the International Pits Straight, in what appeared to have been an overly-optimistic maneuver by the Attempto Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The Bentley escaped relatively unharmed, but the Porsche is much more damaged, and might therefore miss tomorrow’s race.

Further down, the fastest Am Cup car was once again the No. 11 Ferrari 458 Italia of Kessel Racing drivers Stephen Earle, Bernhard Delhez and David Perel.

Team Parker Racing was second in class with its Bentley, while Kaspersky Motorsport’s Ferrari was third.

Qualifying starts tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. local time.
