Nissan Confirms Second RJN Entry for Endurance Cup

Nissan has announced a second Pro Cup entry for RJN Motorsport in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, following initial confirmation of only a single Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 this year.

Former Nissan GT Academy winner Matt Simmons will be joined by Matt Parry and Struan Moore in the No. 22 entry for the five-round championship, which kicks off next month in Monza.

It will mark a continuation of European program for Simmons, who steps up to the top class after his rookie season in the Pro-Am Cup.

“This off-season was a little different to last year as I wasn’t sure what I would be doing and was happy to race anything with Nissan,” Simmons said.

“To be confirmed now, to have another crack at Blancpain in the GT-R NISMO GT3 is the best possible outcome. I can’t thank Nissan Australia and RJN Motorsport enough for making this all possible.

“I feel extremely privileged to go to race tracks that I have raced at before. It will definitely be an advantage for me.”

The Australian will be joined by GT-R NISMO GT3 newcomers Parry and Moore, although both have reached success in other disciplines, Moore recently as a McLaren GT Academy driver.

“We are very pleased to welcome Struan to RJN Motorsport,” said team boss Bob Neville. “He is a young silver driver who already has GT experience, and also a friendly face for Lucas and Chiyo-san who he raced against a couple of years ago in Japanese F3.

“With Matt Parry we have a very talented driver from a pure single seater background who is looking to make the transition to GT racing. We are of course delighted he has joined us to achieve this.”

As previously announced, the No. 23 Nissan will be driven by lex Buncombe, Katsumasa Chiyo and Lucas Ordonez.

Despite the increased presence in Endurance, the team is still slated to forgo the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup rounds this season.
