The Total 24 Hours of Spa is back underway after a weather-induced red flag period lasting five hours and 48 minutes was lifted.

Nearly a quarter of the race was taken up by the stoppage which came after heavy overnight rainfall made driving conditions treacherous on the 7km Belgian circuit.

A team managers’ meeting held this morning resulted in the restart’s delay until at least 11:30 a.m., but teams were allowed to exit parc ferme conditions at 11:10 a.m before action resumed.

Christian Engelhart was set to lead the field away but pitted the No. 63 GRT Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo as the green flag was raised.

This was to carry out the car’s mandatory five-minute technical pit stop.

The No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 of Christian Krognes therefore brought the cars to the restart, ahead of Zaid Ashkanani at the wheel of the No. 54 Dinamic Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R.

A further 25 seconds back was Mikhail Aleshin in the No. 72 SMP Racing Ferrari 488 GT3, which is the highest-placed car to have already carried out its technical service.

Rene Rast and Luca Stolz were fourth and fifth in the highest-placed Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo and Mercedes-AMG GT3 entries with five hours to go.

Oman Racing with TF Sport continued to lead the Pro-Am pack having dominated since the sixth hour with its Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

The Silver Cup-leading No. 90 AKKA-ASP Mercedes elected to make its technical stop shortly after the restart and has since handed the class lead to the No. 78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini.

The Am category is currently being led by the No. 33 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari.
