Pieter Schothorst set the fastest lap in both Free Practice sessions as the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup weekend kicked off at Zolder on Friday.

The Belgian Audi Club Team WRT driver set his best time in the morning’s opening session, a 1:30.064, before topping FP2 with a time of 1:30.372.

He partners Jake Dennis in the No. 3 Audi R8 LMS.

Dries Vanthoor was the second-quickest driver of the day in the No. 5 WRT Audi, 0.151 seconds down on his teammate.

Filip Salaquarda put the No. 75 ISR Audi third in the first session, meanwhile. Schothorst’s FP2 pace-setting time would have placed him fourth in FP1.

It was a much closer affair in the afternoon, with 27 cars within one second of each other. Lewis Williamson secured second place for Strakka Racing, just 0.002 seconds down on the WRT car.

Will Stevens and Giacomo Piccini set identical lap times to go third-fastest in the No. 2 WRT Audi and No. 11 Kessel Racing Ferrari 488 GT3, respectively.

Maxi Buhk came ninth in FP2, two places ahead of championship leader Mirko Bortolotti in the fastest Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

Qualifying is set for 9:15 a.m. tomorrow, ahead of the Qualifying Race at 3 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed live on the GT World YouTube channel and series’ website.

RESULTS: Free Practice 2
