Audi Sport Team WRT has opened up a gap at the head of the field with three hours remaining in the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

Nico Mueller exited the pits shortly after the three-hour mark with a six-second lead over Yelmer Buurman’s Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Buurman and third-placed Richard Lietz, in the GPX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, are running similar strategies, pitting around 15 minutes earlier than the lead Audi.

The Audi gained time in a safety car period after this morning’s restart, with the safety car appearing to have picked up the wrong car, benefitting Mueller, Rene Rast and Robin Frijns.

If the race remains green, the Audi can make it to the line on two more stops, whereas Black Falcon and GPX would likely have to make three. ROWE Racing’s fourth-placed Porsche is on a similar strategy to WRT, meanwhile.

Dinamic Motorsport and Walkenhorst Motorsport were together at the front of the field for a while but were the last two teams to make their mandatory technical pit stops.

The two cars have now completed their stops, dropping back to seventh (Dinamic) and 12th (Walkenhorst).

Oman Racing with TF Sport still leads the Pro-Am Cup, while Barwell Motorsport has moved into the Silver Cup lead. Rinaldi Racing heads the Am rankings.
