Porsche Penske Motorsport won back-to-back IMSA GTP season titles at Motul Petit Le Mans in front of a sold-out crowd at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Saturday. It marked Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet’s second WeatherTech SportsCar Championship championshil together—their first came with Pfaff Motorsports in 2022.
“To finally grab it with the six crew, with everyone involved after these three years, grab the manufacturer championship and grab it with Matt, it’s really a dream come true and I’m just thankful,” said Jaminet.
No. 6 Porsche 963 had a strong performance in the ten-hour finale, finishing in third place.
Jaminet gave credit to his Michelin tires for helping the team be in championship contention throughout the entire season.
“It was really pretty incredible when you look at it,” he said. “We did tons of hours of racing in the night, in the dry, on slicks, in the wet in Watkins Glen, all kind of things, we had to face this year.
“On our end, obviously it worked out well. We don’t really struggle with the tires; everything was really great this year, so we can’t complain.”
The No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series.R won the 28th Motul Petit Le Mans with Earl Bamber, Jack Aitken, and Frederik Vesti. This was the team’s second straight win this season, launching Aitken to second place in the drivers’ championship.
